2021 Statement: “Made in Mother” is a personal, spiritual, display of womanhood in connection to the Triple Goddess (maiden, mother, & crone) through my own maternal lineage. I explored personal family archives and photos, as well as national archives to compile a representation of the experience of all life. The performance, I use fabric to expose pieces of myself, wash them clean to make them pure, an image is created, and sewn directly onto myself. Then again and again, I am it, and it me. Whispers of laugher, gossip, and cries are heard. The names of women who have come before me are written into the walls. The altar is glowing, illuminating the face of my grandmother’s great-grandmother. The center of the room shows the ghostly figures of Maiden, Mother, and Crone, the embodiment of youth, motherhood, and matrinely wisdom. There is the smell of warmth in the air. You feel home.

Statement: “Part of Me” is in honor of all of the people who have impacted my life. They made me who I am today, for better or for worse. Images of and related to these people were gathered and edited in a way to show my feelings toward them. The colors have meanings behind them, but the reasons I chose colors are only for me and the other party to know. Each image will be printed and cut into various shapes. Each of these shapes are a part of me. I wrote individual letters to each person featured, which will be available for them to read next to their related piece. The letters are also only for me and the other party. Envelopes holding each letter will hang on the wall labelled with a name.
