About Freedman:

Lewis Freedman is today considering the surface of the desk as one of the surfaces in play in writing this bio. The thought stays right here as he types, goes nowhere. It’s 10:25am in Milwaukee in late May and it’s frankly cold and rainy outside. He is the author of Residual Synonyms for the Name of God and I Want Something Other Than Time (both from Ugly Duckling Presse) as well as many chapbooks and ephemera.

NIGHTJAR co-host Michelle here adds that Lewis earned his PhD in English at the University of Wisconsin and now works at Woodland Pattern, a poet- and artist-run nonprofit book center, gallery, and performance space in Milwaukee, which is very cool and which you should go visit.

NIGHTJAR creates an inclusive space for all by bringing together spoken-word performers and page-based poets writing in narrative, lyric, and experimental forms. Every third Wednesday, C.S. Carrier and Michelle Niemann host a reading and invite audience members to share their own poetic responses.
