Brick Street South Poetry Series: Lylanne Mussleman

Brick Street South Poetry Series features a poet and an open mic the third Thursday of every month.  May’s featured poet is Lylanne Musselman.

Musselman is an award winning poet, artist, and playwright.

She is the arts blogger for Wheresthecat.com, and she also blogs at Writing Prompt Pit Stop.She is an occasional correspondent on WFHB radio’s BloomingOUT, with her feature “L” WordS. Lylanne’s poems have been published or are forthcoming in Poetry Breakfast, cahoodaloodaling, The Rusty Nail, Wilderness Review Literary Journal, Umbrella, PANK, New Verses News, Tipton Poetry Journal, Art & Poems, Thread, Flying Island, Bird’s Eye reView, The Prose Poem Project, many Outrider Press Anthologies,among others. She was a winner of the Eli Jenkin’s Five & Country Senses Poetry Competition in September 2009, and she was runner-up in Indy’s Masterpiece in a Day in 2005 & 2006, and won 3rd place in 2008.

Lylanne teaches writing courses at IUPUI and American National University in Indianapolis, IN. In addition, she teaches online Comp, Argument, American Lit, Intro to Poetry, and Creative Writing for Ivy Tech Community College, Indianapolis, IN. While liveing in Ohio, Lylanne  instructed Creative Writing  courses for the Lifelong Learning Center at Terra State Community College,  Fremont, OH.

She also taught Creative Writing Workshops for Clyde Public Library in Clyde, OH, and for The 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, OH.
Lylanne has been a Board Member of the Tall Grass Writers Guild, Chicago, IL, since 2001, and she served as an elected Executive Board Member of The Society of the Study of Midwestern Literature, 2011-2014.
