DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with the Consulado de México en Indianápolis \n.\nFor the last 40 years\, David Lanch has worked with plastic\, which is part of the industrial technology of our current world\, and it has been his research work to apply it to painting\, and architectural integration to find man in his habitat.\nIn his work he uses fiberglass\, polymers and resins\, materials that had not been used in our society until after World War II. In his search\, he uses science fiction as an indispensable concept for mass catharsis.\nIn fiberglass painting he found the ideal means to express his vision of other worlds; textures\, colors\, surfaces illuminated and reflected in stainless steel\, mirrors\, natural or artificial light; an ideal world for your vision of a different landscape\, the mountains\, the seas\, the unknown habitat\, where the physical and chemical phenomena\, and the realities of the micro and macro cosmos\, follow the same principles that govern our planet and as far as We know\, of the universe.\nWhen exploring all these materials\, he found a new technique\, painting and etching in fiberglass\, which can help the development of plastic arts in this new millennium. \nDavid Lach was born June 26\, 1949 in Mexico City. \nVersión en español a continuación. \nDavid Lach \nPor los últimos 40 años\, David Lach ha trabajado con plástico\, que es parte de la tecnología industrial de nuestro mundo actual\, y ha sido su labor de investigación aplicarlo a la pintura\, y a la integración arquitectónica para encontrar al hombre en su hábitat.\nEn su trabajo utiliza fibra de vidrio\, polímeros y resinas\, materiales que no habían sido utilizados en nuestra sociedad sino después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Located on a block in both the Garfield Park and Bean Creek neighborhoods on the near southside of Indianapolis\, the Artist and Public Life Residency (APLR) program is an innovative and experimental approach to supporting artists who use their talents and skills to help drive positive change in the community. \nCome tonight to learn more. \nClick here to apply or go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PHZ6YFV \nFor this program\, we view the label of artists to include creatives\, makers\, and designers. Fields include — and are not limited to — architecture\, culinary art\, curation\, visual art\, public art\, furniture\, fashion\, craft\, design\, film and video\, creative writing and journalism\, performing arts\, music\, theater\, placemaking\, socially engaged art\, etc. \nThe APLR — taking applications for resident artists now through December 23\, 2019 — is a long-term\, affordable and community-invested artist home ownership program as part of a community land trust approach. \nApplicants will be notified if they moved on as semi-finalists by January 6. Finalists will be selected by mid January. Public information sessions will be at Tube Factory art space December 5th\, 6 pm and December 7th\, 11 am. \nIn partnership with Riley Area Development and supported by Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership (INHP)\, the APLR’s goal is to provide artists enjoyable and equitable home ownership while they work — in part — to collaborate with other neighbors and boost the culture\, creativity\, diversity\, livability\, safety\, health\, and economy of the local and greater community. This is a reboot of the program launched two years ago before pausing to work out various aspects of the program and partnership. So far three families have been placed into the homes.

SUMMARY:Respecting POTUS & the National Trust
DESCRIPTION:“Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers\, or newspapers without a government\, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.” \n“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle.” \nBoth quotes are attributed to one of our founding fathers and third president\, Thomas Jefferson\, and they perfectly illustrate the vital\, acrimonious\, and sometimes outright hostile relationship that has always existed between a free press and the halls of power within a democracy. Traditionally the press\, this fourth estate\, has served as an additional check on the government’s power. In Jay Seawell’s project\, National Trust\, he dissects the “careful manufacturing of appearances in relation to power\, politics\, and media in the United States.” His subjects range from historical structures to political spectacles and media culture\, and they are all inextricably tied to superficial appearances and perceptions. Meanwhile\, in Andrew Miller’s project\, Respecting POTUS\, he explores these appearances and perceptions as they relate to the Office of the President both inside and outside of the Beltway. According to Miller\, “Political pundits\, elected representatives\, along with 24-hour cable news exist to hold those in power accountable but at times contribute to the divisive and hostile nature of our political culture today.” \nJay Turner Frey Seawell is a photographer based in Washington\, DC. He earned his MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago. His photographs have been included in numerous exhibitions in the United States as well as the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China. Seawell is a two-time nominee of The Baum Award for An Emerging American Photographer. DESCRIPTION:In February 2019 we flew to Madagascar in hopes to uncomfortably disconnect; It worked.  The Island of the Moon is home to around 200\,000 plant and animal species and has some of the most breathtaking scenery you could ever imagine. Unfortunately 90% of their rainforests are gone along with species uprooted due to deforestation. There’s a divide between the native Malagasy that belong and are acclimated to the pace of life in the island off the Indiana Ocean.  An abundance of ethnicities\, sex trafficking\, climate change\, extreme poverty\, and the longest humanly possible commute in a taxi brousse. \nFar From Anything Like The Movie is a photo/ mixed media exposé documenting the rode less traveled. Jane and Sean have no formal artist training and began this journey with the yearning to save their relationship.    \n\nThis will take place at Listen Hear located at 2620 Shelby St.

DESCRIPTION:–Army Reserve Helicopters Encounter with the Unknown–\nRecent announcements indicate the Pentagon funded a program to identify unknown aerial threats between 2007-2012. Naval aviators encounter with UFOs in 2004 have been connected to the programs many areas of study. While of high interest\, have there been equal if not more interesting cases since this event.\nIn 1973 an Army Reserve helicopter was on what the crew assumed would be a non-eventful flight from Columbus to Cleveland\, Ohio. Little did they know they would have a close encounter with an object of unknown origin near Mansfield\, Ohio. The crew reported their encounter to their superiors who appeared to do nothing. But certain facts raise the question that their superiors knew more than they let on. Additional research and interviews with not only crew\, but ground witnesses who revealed previously unknown details.\nThe program interlaced with graphics in order to experience the event through the crew and ground witness’s perspective. \nAbout Thomas Wertman\nIt is said we are all products of our environment. Growing up in the 60’s and watching television shows such as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits fueled an interest in space and the unknown. Television shows and movies soon led to books\, but unfortunately this interest had to be put aside to build a career\, raise a family\, and earn a bachelors in business and master’s in education.\nNow with my family grown and pursing their own careers I decided to return to my lifelong interest in the unknown. The first step was in 2008 by joining the Ohio based group the Cleveland Ufology Project (CUP). CUP was primarily a discussion group that provided an avenue to explore various areas associated with ufology. In 2018 I stepped down as co-director of the group in order to allow more time for private UFO research.\nThe second step also in 2008 was becoming a member of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). Since that time\, I have advanced from field investigator to State Director of Ohio. Currently have investigated over 300 cases in Ohio with one of the most interesting involving two fisherman who experienced over three and one-half hours of missing time. In addition to working Ohio cases I have also conducted over 230 investigations in Canada\, the United Kingdom\, and Puerto Rico for MUFONS Case Assistance Group.\nIf that was not enough\, I have participated in over 200 community outreach programs discussing UFO’s\, been a featured guest on radio and television shows\, participated in three documentaries\, played an alien in a short film\, and host a podcast called UFOdyssey.\nIn the back of my mind I’ve often wondered why I’m so passionate about ufology. A series of regressions explored my past in search of a possible connection. The regressions indicated personal encounters with UFOs and nonhuman beings beginning in the 1960s. These experiences if true explain that connection.

Lugar Plaza! \nPlay games\, meet adoptable dogs from IndyHumane and IACS Rescue\, have a FREE PET PORTRAIT drawn by local artists\, grab a beer from the Tomlinson Tap Room tent\, enjoy local food\, and participate in a DOGGIE COSTUME CONTEST to win fun prizes! IndyHumane will also have its Pet Awareness Wagon onsite for you to explore. All of this before the film even begins! \nNot in the market to adopt? We’ll be sharing a Wish List of supplies that you can bring to donate for pets in need! \nFilm begins at 7:30 PM. \n*No onsite adoptions of animals will take place at this event.
