DESCRIPTION:What makes a city great?  Dynamic\, people-centered spaces. August 1 through October 16\, experience Indianapolis’ most public plaza with new amenities and daily programming via a temporary\, demonstration placemaking project called Spark. Big Car is partnering with The City of Indianapolis\, with funding from the National Endowment for the Artsand the Central Indiana Community Foundation to activate the Circle with free\, low-key\, drop-in games (ping pong\, anyone?)\, music\, bistro-style seating on platforms known as parkets\, conversation\, historical characters\, fitness\, and more\, co-presented by a great roster of partners — starting at 11 a.m. each day. \nFollow @CircleSpark for program alerts.

SUMMARY:The Long Blue Line: Discussion with Artist Sean Derry
DESCRIPTION:Pogue’s Run Waterway once flowed through the heart of Indianapolis and was a prominent visual landmark in the communities through which it meandered. It has since vanished from our landscape into aqueducts beneath the city. \nIn his project “Charting Pogue’s Run\,” artist Sean Derry set out to memorialize our native waterway with a long\, blue line and iron markers mapping the stream’s 1831 path. Join us at Flat 12 Bierworks for a casual presentation and discussion with Derry\, who will share his perspective of Pogue’s Run and the experience of completing a massive installation. \nFlat 12 Bierwerks is located on the banks of Pogues Run waterway. Admission is free\, with food and drinks available for purchase. \nThis event is part of the White River Festival and is presented by Big Car and Reconnecting to Our Waterways. \nYou are invited to join us the following day for The Pogue’s Run Pursuit as we hike the historical route of Pogue’s Run. \n\n\nRethink Reconnect Reclaim – Creative Placemaking Series (Fall\, 2015) \nThis event takes place as part of Rethink Reconnect Reclaim – Creative Placemaking Series (Fall\, 2015)\nLet’s identify what it looks like to take control of our environments and spur forward-thinking artistic exploration for the greater good of our communities and our waterways.
